Hello everyone,
In my previous post, I have already explained an overview about Malaysian federal highways. Today, I would like to explain further about types of federal highways:-
In my previous post, I have already explained an overview about Malaysian federal highways. Today, I would like to explain further about types of federal highways:-
- Toll Expressways (E1-E38) - Main highways with full access control (entry and exit only via gazetted grade-separated interchanges which are limited in numbers) for safer and more comfortable high-speed long distance travel, built with divided highway configuration (except some sections of Senai-Desaru Expressway E22).
- Main Federal Highways (1-249) - Main highways that form the basis of Malaysian national highway network. They connect main towns and cities and also become a heart of national economy. Most of them are two-lane undivided highways but some areas with high traffic capacity may be upgraded to divided highways.
- Main Federal Institutions Access Roads (250-499) - Secondary or minor roads that act as main access roads to federal government premises such as hospitals, universities and transmitter towers.
- Industrial Highways (3000-3799) - Main access roads to industrial areas. Most of them are originated from state highways that have been taken over by the federal government and then being re-gazetted as federal highways.
- FELDA/FELCRA Federal Roads (1000-2499) - Access roads to FELDA/FELCRA including to premises owned by their respective settlements e.g. palm oil factories, etc.
The highway shield consists of a yellow hexagon-shaped shield (resembling the JKR logo) with route numbers. Other than merely numbers, federal highway codes can be added with FT prefixes, such as FT1 for Federal Route 1.
can i ask u something...who agencies and companies responsible for planning, construction, operating and maintenance of this all road..can u explain o me..please
ReplyDeleteFederal highways are under the responsibility of the federal Public Works Department, while state highways are under the state Public Works Department. Expressways are maintained by their respective concessionaire companies.
